What is Molecular Fluid Mechanics?

This new science deals with fluid or gas and its thermodynamic phenomena from a molecular perspective. Molecules interact in unique organizational and cooperative formations. This interaction changes when energy, such as heat or pressure, is added. Molecular energy can be transformed into another type of energy with minimum loss. This process can be controlled and harnessed.

Considerable energy is employed to move fluids from point to point. Further, the fluids naturally carry significant pressure and temperature. These energies — flow, temperature and pressure — are transformed in our devices into ultrasonic and ionic energy.

Once the transformation is complete, the participatory fluid is intimately mixed, transformed chemically, and energized rendering it many times more efficient when traversing barriers such as reverse osmosis or dialysis membranes.

The Hughes Reactor
(Hughes Molecular Mixer and Catalytic Reactor: H-MMCR™)

FEC has developed a highly efficient, cost effective, mass producible energy conversion device called the Hughes Reactor. This breakthrough technology converts the molecular and dynamic flow energies of gas or liquid directly into a controlled ultrasonic energy field. Powerful ultrasound is used to establish a uniform, controlled cavitation field. This cavitation field adds ionic energy.

The patented geometric structure converts the dynamic energy of flowing fluids (density X velocity squared) into a powerful ultrasonic energy field; this results in the creation of countless numbers of stable miniature vortices rotating at very high velocity.

The next stage of the process involves the injection of a relatively minute amount of gas (air, oxygen or carbon dioxide) that generates a strong, controlled cavitation energy field. The cavitation, in turn, results in the formation of spherical cavitation “cells” that collapse and emanate powerful shockwaves.

This process eliminates water’s natural surface tension and viscosity, allowing it to be mixed with other fluids or dissolvable substances more readily.

The Hughes Reactor has novel catalytic reactor rings designed into it. These serve several functions:

  • They amplify and focus the energy fields on the fluids being processed.
  • They are integral to a fully electronic sterilization system capable of destroying pathogens with infinite control of the intensity and amplitude of the generated energy field that does the job.
  • The rings can be coated with catalysts that are greatly enhanced by the energy fields.
  • FEC has developed a resonant, magnetic-ionization process that can be linked to the rings to liberate electron clouds from the outer orbit of oxygen-nitrogen molecules. This produces energy at high radio frequencies and further sterilizes the involved fluid or gas.

 

 



 

Proof Of Concept

Our in-house testing has been going on since 2003. The experience has shown vortex fields in the device establish that controllable high-powered ultrasound. In addition, this field has been successfully converted to a cavitation field under many different circumstances. We have enhanced these energy conversions using a patented lensing system if more aggressive ultrasound fields are required.

For further proof of concept, we shipped our reactors out to two different engineering groups. These groups reviewed the effectiveness and accuracy of our device as a flow meter.

We chose flow metering to proof our device. The prevailing thought is that if the energy conversion is pure, controlled and without loss, then the energy conversion alone would be proportional to the mass flow running through the device. In addition, the energy conversion should be expected to follow mass flow over a wide range of pressures and flow ranges.

These graphs show a remarkable correlation between the output of the Hughes Flow Meter compared to three Coriolis meters.  The Coriolis meters did not have the range required and therefore required three meters.  In addition, the output of the Coriolis meters was enhanced by computer adjustments for errors; the Hughes Flow Meter is using only raw data that is unrefined by computer enhancement.  The astonishing correlation (R value 0.97) is a testament to the purity of our energy process.  We are essentially measuring flow like electricity, not a purely physical process as the Coriolis does.

Emerson is one of the largest energy companies and certainly the largest flow meter company in the world. They agreed to test our devices in their confidential facility in Texas. They even built our device themselves after developing their own design drawings. Their results were exemplary.

Application: Water Filtration & Desalination

The universal and critical importance of clean water drives a sharply technologic and complicated set of systems to achieve potable and usable water. The increasing need for clean water drives an market that is expanding rapidly and yet must deliver without delay or miss-step for an economical price.

Though multiple stages of water purification is used, the over-riding theme that drives the economy of the system is something termed “molecular agitation”. Energy is typically instilled into the molecules of water to drive them through purification processes in the form of heat and pressure. For the first time, Hughes processes enable unlimited and highly effective energy to be added to water in the form of ultrasound and cavitation. These energies are very potent and now easily generated. Water purification and desalination can now function at a higher level with clear savings in money and energy.

Never before has technology supplied inexpensive energy input that is more effective that the usual energy choices, allowed complete control over these energies, allowed their easy direction and installation into so many applications, and delivered all for remarkably low expense.

In terms of water purification and filtration we recommend the following initial applications:

Atomization: A revolutionary approach to controlled micron sized, uniform water droplet atomization is now possible for the first time with great efficiency. This new process can generate efficient water humidification or “cold steam” without actually producing thermal heated steam. Using heat to make steam is much less energy efficient.

Hard Water Abatement: A cost effective reactor system that produces effective neutralization of calcium carbonate and other minerals. The system goal is to convert dissolved calcium carbonate into tiny crystals that travel through any water system without sticking to plumbing or fixtures.

Chemical Mixing: The molecular agitation produced allows rapid mixing or combining of chemical additives (“just in time mixing”), such as ozone or chlorine, into flowing air or water.

Home Water Systems: Simple single pass systems can be enhanced by molecular agitation to further purify home water with little additional energy input or complex water systems.

Water Aeration/Oxygenation: New methods for aerating or oxygenating water.

Reverse Osmosis/Desalination: A major enhancement of the reverse osmosis filtration process operation and efficiency is possible. Molecular agitation is the key. All filter systems are driven by molecular agitation, which require old-time energies in the past such as heat or pressure. Sound waves and cavitation are far more desirable energies in this application. This process can also aid in the control of filter barrier cleanliness.

Filter Systems: A novel way to enhance other filter and filtration efficiency and extend the life of generally expensive filtration systems used in water purification systems.

Pathogen Eradication: Used as a system to improve pathogen control by enhancing oxidizer chemicals, increasing hydrodynamic effects, or delivering electromagnetic ionization.
